Team Leader – Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Services

About the role

Healthcare Australia is seeking an experienced AOD nurse to lead a multidisciplinary team at the Melbourne Immigration Detention Centre. This senior clinical leadership position involves shaping service delivery, mentoring staff, and ensuring high‑quality, person‑centred care.

Key responsibilities

• Lead delivery of specialist AOD care, including assessment, withdrawal management, treatment planning, harm reduction and referrals.
• Provide visible clinical leadership, mentoring, and professional guidance to the AOD team.
• Oversee the OOAT Pharmacotherapy Program and withdrawal support services.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated, person‑centred care.
• Identify and implement service improvements, quality initiatives and clinical governance standards.

Required profile

• Current unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1).
• Post‑graduate qualification in AOD or Mental Health with 5+ years specialist AOD experience, or 7+ years specialist AOD nursing experience.
• At least 5 years post‑graduate clinical experience, including AOD care.
• Previous clinical leadership or healthcare management experience.
• Strong knowledge of AOD practice, withdrawal management, pharmacotherapy and trauma‑informed care.
