Systems Engineer / Specialist Technician for School ICT Support

About the role

Bytewize is seeking experienced IT professionals to provide technical support to Victorian schools through the Technical Support to Schools Program (TSSP). The role involves managing ICT infrastructure, supporting staff and students, and delivering professional development.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain ICT infrastructure across Department of Education schools.
• Administer and support school networks and server environments.
• Provide ICT support in large, technology‑driven learning environments.
• Collaborate with school leadership and deliver ICT professional development when required.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of industry experience in education‑sector ICT or senior corporate IT support.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Eligibility to work in Australia, current driver’s licence and willingness to undergo police and background checks.

Required skills

• Hyper‑V virtualisation administration.
• Windows and Linux server administration.
• Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 cloud service administration.
• Mobile Device Management (MDM) deployment and administration.
• Advanced enterprise networking (Cisco & HP switching) and Cisco wireless technologies.
• Standard Operating Environment (SOE) and image deployment with advanced troubleshooting.
• Support for large fleets of desktops, notebooks, 1:1 and BYOD device planning.
• Strong technical documentation skills.

What we offer

• Salary $80,000 – $110,000 AUD pro‑rata, top rates based on skills and experience.
