System Specialist – Electrical, Platform & Combat Systems

About the role

This permanent position on Garden Island, Sydney, offers a unique opportunity to lead technical assurance for complex ship systems within the ACS CLCM Baseline Uplift Project. You will act as the Subject Matter Expert, guiding the resolution of baseline discrepancies across platform, combat and electrical domains.

Key responsibilities

• Provide system‑level technical assurance ensuring maintenance, support and configuration data are accurate and aligned with the product baseline.
• Identify, analyse and resolve baseline misalignments using ILS and LSA principles, and define remediation actions.
• Support technical risk management activities, contributing to RPRs, PIRs and engineering recommendations.
• Collaborate with project and technical teams to reflect system intent, maintenance concepts and certification requirements in updated technical products.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders as a trusted technical authority, delivering clear advice and supporting technical reviews.
• Maintain effective communication across the CLCM environment and contribute to continuous improvement of uplift processes, tools and governance.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in Electrical, Platform or Combat Systems within the defence maritime domain.
• AQF Diploma or higher in a relevant technical discipline, or equivalent ADF Subject 4 qualification.
• Experience in Navy Technical Risk Management and baseline defence security clearance.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
