System Administrator – Hybrid Hosting & Cloud (AWS/Azure)

About the role

We are looking for a proactive System Administrator to join a fast‑paced digital agency in Melbourne’s inner suburbs. You will own the agency’s hosting infrastructure, support internal staff, and ensure client systems remain fast, secure, and reliable.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and optimise hybrid hosting environments across Windows servers, Azure and AWS.
• Maintain physical server hardware, including occasional site visits to local data centres for bare‑metal deployments and troubleshooting.
• Run and monitor virtualised environments and storage using Proxmox and TrueNAS.
• Act as the primary point of contact for DNS updates, domain routing and general hosting configurations.
• Provide day‑to‑day IT asset support for staff on Windows and Mac laptops/PCs.
• Apply security best practices: monthly patching, vulnerability updates and regular backup testing.
• Work independently, track time, and communicate clearly to troubleshoot issues and scope new projects.

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands‑on system administration experience, preferably in an agency or managed‑services environment.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset and ability to work autonomously.
• Excellent communication skills for internal and client interactions.
• Willingness to travel to local data centres for on‑prem hardware work.
