Supervisor – Public Practice Accounting (Hybrid)

About the role

This hybrid, people‑leadership opportunity is designed for an experienced public‑practice accountant ready to move from senior technical work into supervisory responsibilities. Reporting to a Manager, you will lead a small team, maintain client relationships, and continue delivering core compliance work.

Key responsibilities

• Review work prepared by Senior and Junior Accountants for technical accuracy before escalation to a Manager.
• Coordinate day‑to‑day workload and deadlines across a small team, balancing capacity against filing and lodgement dates.
• Handle direct client contact on routine and moderately complex matters, escalating sensitive or highly technical issues.
• Maintain a personal technical workload while providing on‑the‑job coaching and feedback to junior staff.
• Monitor work‑in‑progress, flag billing or scope issues, and support onboarding of new team members.

Required profile

• 3–7 years of experience in public practice accounting.
• Australian qualifications; CA/CPA qualified or working towards.
• Strong technical grounding in core compliance work (tax, financial statements).
• Proven ability to review others' work accurately and give constructive feedback.
• Comfortable communicating directly with clients on straightforward and moderately complex matters.
• Organised, deadline‑driven, and able to juggle multiple jobs and people.
• Genuine interest in progressing toward people leadership.
