Student Engineer (Civil) - 12-Month Contract

About the role

Randstad is recruiting a Student Engineer (Civil) for a 12-month contract with a state transport and infrastructure client based in Nerang, working in the Asset Management and Technical Services branch. The role supports major road infrastructure and heavy vehicle permitting projects, with direct mentorship from Senior and Principal Engineers. The contract is open to students in their second or third year of a four-year civil engineering degree.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in assessing, coordinating and administering heavy vehicle permits to ensure compliance, optimal routing and project delivery.
• Identify potential problem areas on heavy vehicle routes and help negotiate route modifications or adaptations.
• Determine road and bridge maintenance procedures, manage work instructions and coordinate tasks.
• Learn to calculate material quantities, analyse material test results, identify non-conformances and set up construction controls.
• Perform risk assessments and maintain strict quality management procedures across projects.
• Maintain clear communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in the second or third year of a four-year, Washington Accord-accredited Bachelor of Engineering (Civil).
• Valid, current Class C driver's licence.
• Able to provide your own suitable personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Willingness to undergo standard pre-employment screening such as a criminal history check.
