Staff Specialist – Psychiatry

About the role

Join West Moreton Health as a Staff Specialist in Psychiatry, supporting clinical governance and activity within the Adult Mental Health Service for consumers with acute mental health needs.

Key responsibilities

• Provide assessment and clinical management of people with mental illness in a specialised mental health setting.
• Offer high‑level clinical leadership, advice and direction within multidisciplinary teams and to stakeholders.
• Lead mental health recovery models, evidence‑based practice and continuous quality improvement.
• Deliver training to junior medical staff.

Required profile

• Extensive knowledge and expertise in mental health assessment and management.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, consultation and negotiation skills.
• Commitment to evidence‑based practice and service improvement.
• Expert knowledge of national and State mental health legislation.

Required skills

• Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry or equivalent postgraduate specialist qualification.
• Current AHPRA specialist registration in psychiatry.
• Vaccinated against required vaccine‑preventable diseases as per Health Employment Directive NO.01/16.
