Sports Umpire (Netball, Basketball, Volleyball, Futsal)

About the role

The City of Cockburn is building a casual pool of umpires for netball, basketball, volleyball and futsal (soccer) at its ARC leisure centres. You will report to the Sports Supervisor and help deliver indoor competitions fairly, safely and professionally, with flexible work options and a salary of $45.98 per hour including a 25% loading.

Key responsibilities

• Officiate and control sporting competitions according to the rules of each sport
• Anticipate play, keep correct positioning and make clear, fair decisions
• Judge performances, signal infractions and apply penalties
• Manage disputes and complaints on court in a professional, impartial way
• Inspect equipment and check participant safety before and during games
• Keep accurate records of scores, timing and game outcomes
• Manage hazards and escalate issues to ensure public safety
• Deliver customer service to players, teams and community members and work with Sports Supervisors and ARC staff

Required profile

• Experience umpiring or refereeing basketball, netball, futsal, volleyball or similar indoor sports
• Strong knowledge of the rules and regulations of the sports
• Ability to make quick, fair decisions under pressure and to handle conflict
• Customer service skills and strong communication skills
• Availability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Must be legally permitted to work in Australia on a full-time permanent basis

Required skills

• First Aid and CPR certification
• Working with Children Check
• Satisfactory police check
