Casual Pool Lifeguard - Beatty Park

About the role

The City of Vincent's Beatty Park Leisure Centre is looking for competent and motivated casual lifeguards to join its customer-focused team. The position is based at the leisure centre in central north Perth and pays a casual hourly rate plus weekend penalties. Candidates must be able to work a range of shifts, including weekends.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise public use of the facility, attend to first aid cases, conduct water tests and attend regular in-service training
• Set up and dismantle equipment for programmes and ensure the safety and security of fittings and equipment
• Provide a high level of internal and external customer service in line with the Council's Customer Service Charter
• Maintain the work area in a safe, clean and tidy condition and exercise a duty of care for own and others' safety
• Perform spot cleaning and general cleaning around the pool as directed
• Comply with equal opportunity and diversity principles and keep the workplace free from discrimination, harassment and bullying

Required profile

• A strong swimmer fit for real or test rescue swims
• Previous experience in a leisure centre is highly regarded; previous lifeguarding in an aquatic facility is desirable
• Ability to work rostered hours including evenings, weekends and public holidays (desirable)
• Initiative, good relationships with diverse stakeholders and a friendly, customer-service-minded attitude

Required skills

• Basic lifesaving skills
• First Aid Certificate
• Resuscitation Certificate (desirable)
• Oxygen training (desirable)
• Pool Lifeguard Award or equivalent; Pool Management Certificate is an advantage but not essential
