Specialist Technician – Systems Engineer for School ICT Support

About the role

Bytewize is seeking experienced Systems Engineers / Specialist Technicians to provide technical support to Victorian schools through the Technical Support to Schools Program (TSSP). The role involves managing ICT infrastructure, supporting staff and students, and delivering professional development in technology‑driven learning environments.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain ICT infrastructure across Department of Education schools.
• Administer and support school networks and server environments.
• Provide ICT support services in large, technology‑driven learning environments.
• Collaborate with school leadership teams and deliver ICT professional development when required.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of senior‑level IT experience in education or corporate environments.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong problem‑solving, escalation, and communication skills.
• Eligibility to work in Australia (citizen, PR, or permanent visa), a current driver’s licence, and willingness to undergo police and background checks.

Required skills

• Hyper‑V virtualisation administration.
• Windows and Linux server administration.
• Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 cloud service administration.
• Mobile Device Management (MDM) deployment and administration.
• Advanced enterprise networking (Cisco & HP switching).
• Cisco wireless technologies (controllers, APs).
• Standard Operating Environment (SOE) and image deployment with advanced troubleshooting.
• Support for large fleets of desktops, notebooks, 1:1 and BYOD device planning, deployment, and management.
• Technical documentation.

What we offer

• Salary range $90,000 – $110,000 (pro‑rata) AUD, top rates based on skills and experience.
