Specialist in Sexual Health (Staff Specialist / Senior Specialist)

About the role

The Canberra Sexual Health Centre (CSHC) is recruiting a Specialist in Sexual Health (Staff Specialist 1-5 / Senior Specialist) for a full-time or part-time temporary position. CSHC provides clinic-based care and an outreach programme covering sexually transmissible infections, HIV, gender-affirming care, contraception, genital dermatology and sexual function. About 80% of the time is spent in a direct clinical role, with the rest split across education, research, quality improvement and unit administration.

Key responsibilities

• Clinical consultation and medical resident and registrar supervision, with nursing staff clinical support
• Contribute to the teaching and training of medical students and other health professionals, in clinic and in formal sessions
• Contribute to research, evaluation and quality improvement
• Help administer and manage the unit; responsibilities are shared across the team (educational lead, clinical lead in gender care, clinical lead in outreach)
• Opportunity for an honorary academic title with the ANU School of Medicine and Psychology, and a possible conjoint academic position (no remuneration)

Required profile

• Specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
• Endorsed scope of clinical practice from the Medical Dental Appointments Advisory Committee
• Successful pre-employment National Police Check
• Compliance with Canberra Health Services occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy

What we offer

• Base salary of $204,936 to $274,696, with superannuation (12.5%), private practice allowance, professional development allowance and on-call allowance (17.5%)
• Leave of up to 4 weeks training/education and 5 weeks annual leave per year, plus annual leave loading (17.5%)
