Specialist & Emergency Veterinary Nurse – Australia Wide

About the role

Greencross Vet is seeking experienced veterinary nurses to join its Specialist and Emergency hospitals across Australia. You will work closely with veterinarians to provide high‑quality care for a variety of animals in a fast‑paced emergency environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries and emergency procedures, including handling anaesthetics and oxygen.
• Prepare, sterilise and maintain examination tables, equipment and instruments.
• Monitor animals in recovery cages, administer medications and perform basic diagnostic laboratory tests.
• Maintain accurate stock control, records and may act as receptionist handling payments and clerical tasks.
• Provide animal‑care advice and contribute to the development and delivery of education programs for pet owners.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years full‑time post‑qualification experience as a veterinary nurse.
• Ability to work in a high‑stress, emergency setting and follow veterinary protocols.

Required skills

• Proficiency in animal handling, medication administration and basic laboratory testing.
• Experience with surgical assistance, anaesthetic monitoring and equipment sterilisation.
