Solicitor - Insurance & Commercial Litigation

About the role

An established Brisbane legal team is seeking an experienced Associate to handle defendant insurance matters, including professional indemnity, life insurance and public and product liability claims, as well as commercial litigation. The role includes mentoring junior lawyers and support staff, with ongoing mentorship and support from senior partners.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a range of defendant insurance claims, focusing on professional indemnity, life insurance and public/product liability
• Handle commercial litigation matters and give direct client advice
• Prepare court documents such as pleadings, briefs and motions, and attend mediations and court hearings
• Negotiate settlements and manage court processes
• Mentor junior legal staff and guide them on case management
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and other practitioners

Required profile

• 3-5 years of post-admission experience in insurance or commercial litigation
• Experience in general liability claims
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills with clients and other practitioners
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work independently and collaborate within a team
• Sharp attention to detail and strong time management
