Senior Associate - Commercial Litigation

About the role

A mid-sized Brisbane law firm is looking for a commercially astute Senior Associate to join its high-performing disputes practice. Working closely with an accomplished Partner known for tax controversy and general commercial litigation, you will lead complex and diverse matters, including contractual disputes, regulatory enforcement, shareholder and director disputes, IP claims, tax audits and commercial fraud. You will take ownership of files from day one, strategise, run litigation and mentor junior team members.

Key responsibilities

• Lead multi-million dollar disputes and take ownership of files from start to finish
• Handle matters in corporate litigation, tax controversy and regulatory defence
• Run litigation and advise on regulatory, tax and corporate litigation files
• Mentor junior lawyers and contribute to team development
• Manage sophisticated clients and help shape client strategies

Required profile

• 5-10 years of professional experience in commercial litigation; top or mid-tier firm experience desirable
• Strong background in managing complex commercial disputes from inception to resolution
• Experience in tax, regulatory enforcement, IP or shareholder conflict litigation
• Confident in managing sophisticated clients and contributing to business development

Required skills

• Exceptional drafting, advocacy and strategic thinking
• Highly organised with strong commercial judgment and problem-solving skills
• Passion for mentoring junior lawyers
