Solicitor - Banking and Finance (Securitisation / Structured Finance)

About the role

HWL Ebsworth is recruiting a solicitor for its Banking & Finance practice, which is being expanded under the leadership of newly appointed partner Chris Trudinger. The role advises major banks, lenders, funds, corporate and government investors and borrowers on securitisation, structured finance and other sophisticated financing structures. Candidates can come from Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne or Sydney.

Key responsibilities

• Advise major banks, financial institutions, non-bank lenders, funds, corporate and government investors and borrowers on securitisation, structured finance and other complex financing structures.
• Gain exposure to high-profile transactions in growing market segments and hands-on experience in structuring and managing complex financing deals.
• Work directly with a recognised market leader, gaining early responsibility and client exposure while contributing to the growth of the specialist Banking & Finance team.

Required profile

• Admitted lawyer with approximately 2-5 years' post-qualification experience (flexible depending on experience).
• Experience in a reputable Banking & Finance, Capital Markets or Structured Finance practice.
• Exposure to securitisation, structured finance, debt capital markets, derivatives or complex funding transactions.
• Commercial mindset and a genuine interest in developing a specialist practice in structured finance and capital markets.
• Full working rights in Australia and a valid practising certificate.

Required skills

• Strong drafting, analytical and technical legal skills.
• Ability to manage transaction workstreams and collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
• Ability to navigate sophisticated financing structures and understand key financial markets concepts.
