Software Engineering Manager – Internet Edge Services

About the role

Amazon Web Services' Internet Edge Services team is building the next‑generation Border Network. As a Software Engineering Manager you will lead the team that builds and operates Catographer, the intelligent control plane powering AWS's software‑defined network at the internet edge.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a high‑performing software development team to deliver traffic‑engineering solutions for AWS's internet edge networks.
• Manage sprint planning, project reporting for director‑level review, and coordinate solution design reviews with stakeholders.
• Drive operational metric reviews and continuous improvement of security, availability, and service effectiveness.
• Ensure engineers have clear goals, handle escalations, and mentor team members.

Required profile

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
• 7+ years of software engineering experience, including 8+ years leading multi‑tier web services development.
• Experience with full software/hardware/network development lifecycle and partnering with product/program management.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Rust.
• Strong knowledge of software‑defined networking and cloud infrastructure (AWS).
• Experience with networking protocols, routing, and large‑scale distributed systems.
