Software Engineer – Secure Communications

About the role

This position is ideal for a software engineer who enjoys understanding how systems work beyond the code. You will join the Secure Network Communications Program to develop and evolve a suite of secure communications products, gaining exposure to Linux, networking and system‑level technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, integrate, test and document software capabilities for a complex secure communications solution.
• Contribute to product modernisation, new feature development and performance optimisation across multiple solution layers.
• Collaborate with systems, test and support teams to resolve technical issues.
• Participate in technical reviews, design discussions and code reviews.
• Share knowledge and mentor less‑experienced engineers.

Required profile

• Software engineering background with a passion for solving ambiguous technical problems.
• Experience in Linux environments and software development.
• Familiarity with Java, C, C++, Python or JavaScript.
• Experience using software configuration management tools, JIRA and Agile delivery methods.
• Comfortable working on networked, distributed or secure systems and learning new technologies.
• Curious, pragmatic and willing to step outside your immediate expertise.
