Software Engineer (.NET) - Backend Integrations

About the role

CORTO is a software company building AI-driven solutions for the legal industry, helping lawyers, paralegals and legal assistants with document automation and other tools. It is growing from 80 to 250+ employees, with about 75% of its workforce as developers and engineers. The company is looking for a mid-level engineer to join a backend team of three, reporting to the Lead Engineer, and to split time between extending existing integrations and owning new ones for its document automation product.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend software using C# and .NET
• Build RESTful APIs, backend services, integrations and event-driven solutions on AWS (Lambda, SQS, S3)
• Apply best practices such as agile, automated testing, code reviews and CI/CD
• Work with cross-functional teams to turn business requirements into scalable, maintainable solutions
• Help improve development practices, architecture, tooling and engineering standards

Required profile

• 3-5 years of commercial software engineering experience focused on backend development
• Strong experience building backend services and APIs in C# and .NET
• Picks things up quickly, works autonomously, asks questions early and stays calm under pressure
• Wants to own a project end to end, not just close tickets

Required skills

• RESTful APIs with .NET, preferably .NET 10
• Relational database schemas, preferably AWS RDS or Amazon Aurora MySQL
• Event-driven solutions with SQS, S3 and AWS Lambda
• AI-assisted development tools such as MCP servers and structured prompting
• Integrations with Microsoft Graph and Google Gmail APIs
• Server-side document generation and modification (Aspose or similar)
• Nice to have: Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace integrations, macOS app development
