Software Engineer – Mission Software Solutions

About the role

Leidos Australia is looking for a quality‑focused Software Engineer to join its Mission Software Solutions team in Melbourne or Canberra. The role is on‑site, within a secure environment, and involves delivering software that supports defence, intelligence and other government customers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, integrate and deploy innovative software solutions across the full development lifecycle.
• Participate in agile story development, estimation and continuous integration/automation activities.
• Apply SecDevOps practices to integrate and deploy complex systems.
• Develop web‑focused user interfaces and evolve user experience.
• Research, prototype and investigate new technologies, producing clear technical documentation.

Required profile

• Australian citizen with an active TSPV clearance; may need to meet ITAR requirements.
• Strong commitment to delivering reliable, secure and maintainable software.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Adaptability to switch between tasks as priorities change.

Required skills

• Full‑stack development experience with React, Angular.NET and Java.
• Integration using REST APIs, JSON and XML.
• Experience with open‑source technologies such as NiFi, Kafka, Elastic (ELK) Stack and Solr.
• CI/CD tools and infrastructure‑as‑code including Ansible, GitLab, Git.
• Containerisation with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Use of Jira, Confluence, Linux and Windows environments.
