Software Engineer

About the role

Alcon is seeking a motivated early to mid‑career Software Engineer to develop advanced medical imaging solutions. You will build and maintain software packages used by R&D, manufacturing, and commercial products, contributing to eye‑health innovations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop software to deliver new product features and enhance existing functionality.
• Use established version control (Git) and ticket management (Jira) workflows, including code reviews.
• Write clean, maintainable, well‑documented code.
• Communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms.
• Produce documentation that meets medical and regulatory expectations.
• Work within the IEC 62304 medical device software development framework.

Required profile

• Strong C++ programming skills.
• Sound understanding of software engineering and design principles (e.g., RAII, SRP, SoC).
• Problem‑solving mindset and collaborative approach.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.
