Software Engineer – Hybrid (Sydney)

About the role

Stake is seeking a Software Engineer to join its Technology team in Sydney. The role involves designing, developing, and operating reliable, scalable systems that support the investing platform for hundreds of thousands of customers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and operate reliable, scalable services for the Stake platform.
• Collaborate with Product, Design and Engineering teammates to solve customer problems.
• Deliver high‑quality, maintainable and well‑tested code.
• Contribute to architectural discussions and make technical decisions.
• Own critical systems from development through production and ensure operational excellence.
• Improve engineering standards through code reviews, knowledge sharing and collaboration.
• Build strong partnerships across teams to deliver new product features and enhancements.

Required profile

• Experience building and operating customer‑facing software in modern engineering environments.
• Pragmatic mindset with ability to balance speed, quality and long‑term sustainability.
• Strong ownership mentality and ability to make thoughtful trade‑offs.
• Comfort working in a hybrid model, spending three days per week onsite in a dog‑friendly office.
