Software Development Engineer II

About the role

Join the Vrbo team within Expedia Group as a Software Development Engineer II, building reliable, high‑impact experiences for hosts and guests. You will work across the full software development lifecycle, from design to production support, contributing to services, APIs, and front‑end applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high‑performance services and applications, covering UI, APIs, backend, and data layers.
• Write clean, testable code with attention to scalability, security, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with product, design, and operations teams to translate requirements into technical solutions, using data and metrics for decisions.
• Own the full lifecycle of services, including code reviews, automated testing, deployment, monitoring, and production support.
• Integrate and operate AI/ML‑enabled solutions, applying AI concepts to real‑world product features.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 1‑2+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Hands‑on experience with at least one backend language (Kotlin or Java) and modern front‑end technologies (JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS, React).
• Demonstrated ability to design and implement service‑ or API‑based solutions with basic data modeling.
• Experience working in an agile environment, owning features from design through deployment.
