Social Volunteer - Companionship for a Centenarian

About the role

HammondCare, an independent Christian charity providing the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme funded by the Australian Government, is looking for a warm, reliable social volunteer to spend one hour each week with a female centenarian in Caringbah. The resident enjoys good company and a good game, and has kept her enthusiasm for sport alive into her 100th year.

Key responsibilities

• Visit the resident once a week, or every two weeks depending on availability, for about one hour.
• Chat about matches, share stories, watch a game together, or simply offer companionship.
• Support the resident's enjoyment of sport, which includes bowling, hockey, soccer and tennis.

Required profile

• 18 years or older.
• NDIS screening and a National Volunteer Police Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare.
• Availability for a one-hour visit between 9am and 4pm, Monday to Sunday.
