Social Visitor Volunteer – Catholic Brother Companion

About the role

HammondCare, an independent Christian charity and approved provider of the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme, is looking for a warm, patient and compassionate person to spend time with one of its Catholic Brothers in Gregory Hills. The role is social volunteering: a simple chat, reading together, a quiet board game or watching the news side by side, and even a short visit can brighten someone's day.

Key responsibilities

• Visit the Catholic Brother regularly, spending around 30 minutes to an hour each week or fortnight
• Share a conversation, read together, play a board game or watch the news together
• Provide companionship and help reduce feelings of isolation

Required profile

• 18 years or older
• Valid Working With Children Check
• Proof of two COVID-19 vaccinations and a recent flu vaccination
• National Volunteer Police Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare
• Ideally available one hour per week or fortnight for 6 months or longer, between 9am and 5pm
