Skilled Labourer - Transport Infrastructure

About the role

Yass Valley Council is seeking a Skilled Labourer for its Transport Infrastructure team, based at the Council Works Depot in Yass, NSW. The role covers general and skilled labouring duties supporting road construction, maintenance and drainage, including the operation of plant and machinery. Several positions are available.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in road works through skilled and general labouring duties.
• Operate plant and/or equipment used in road construction, maintenance and drainage.
• Carry out manual handling and use hand tools such as shovels, crowbars, brooms, rakes and hammers.
• Undertake traffic control.
• Keep work practices effective and efficient and propose improvements where appropriate.
• Drive and operate vehicles safely and competently in line with road traffic laws.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience carrying out general construction and maintenance labouring duties.
• Right to work in Australia and willingness to pass pre-employment checks.
• White Card (Construction Induction).
• Current Traffic Controller and Implement Traffic Control Plans qualification from Transport NSW, or willingness to obtain it.
• Current driver's licence; a class C licence is listed as essential in the position description.

Preferred

• Ability to operate plant and equipment.
• HR licence.
