Signals Technician – Dampier (FIFO/Residential)

About the role

We are looking for experienced Signals Technicians to join Rio Tinto’s high‑performing Signals team at Dampier. The role involves maintaining and enhancing critical rail signalling assets, including the world‑first fully autonomous heavy‑haul rail system, AutoHaul. You can work either residentially or on a FIFO roster (4 days / 4 nights / 6 off).

Key responsibilities

• Safely execute planned maintenance and inspections on train control signalling systems and associated communications.
• Identify faults and implement permanent, reliable solutions.
• Support rail network renewal projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain strong communication with Train Control, Rail Operations and Engineering stakeholders.

Required profile

• Commitment to personal and team safety.
• Valid Grade WA Electrical License (or equivalent).
• Certificate IV in Rail Signalling.
• Current Manual ‘C’ Class driver’s licence.
• Proven experience in rail signalling.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with all personnel levels.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Vital, Radio or IP‑based communications systems.
• Experience using SAP for work management.
• Understanding of work‑management principles.
