Shop Assistant - Op Shop

About the role

Anglicare Sydney is recruiting a Shop Assistant for its Leura Op Shop in Katoomba. As part of a team of staff and volunteers, you will deliver an excellent customer experience and help keep the shop a welcoming community hub where customers can find quality pre-loved goods. Every purchase helps fund programs for vulnerable children, families, older people and those experiencing hardship.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional customer service and create a welcoming experience for every customer.
• Support, encourage and guide volunteers on a day-to-day basis, fostering a positive team culture.
• Assist with merchandising, stock presentation and keeping the retail environment attractive and well organised.
• Process sales, complete shop administration and follow cash handling procedures accurately.
• Maintain a safe, clean and organised workplace and promote Anglicare's mission, vision and values.

Required profile

• Friendly, energetic and customer-focused retail professional who enjoys working with people from all walks of life.
• Previous retail or customer service experience.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to build positive relationships with customers, volunteers and colleagues.
• Genuine passion for helping people and serving the community.
• Current Working With Children Check, or willingness to obtain one.

Required skills

• Ideally: experience in visual merchandising or retail presentation.
• Ideally: experience supporting or supervising volunteers.
• Ideally: cash handling and point-of-sale experience.
• Ideally: flexibility to assist with additional duties as required.
