Service Project Manager

About the role

Hitachi Energy Australia is looking for a Service Project Manager in Smithfield, NSW. The role covers the delivery of service projects, including both commercial and technical aspects, while keeping operations compliant with company protocols, contractual obligations, safety regulations and financial and scheduling objectives. Local and occasional overseas travel is required.

Key responsibilities

• Lead service project execution in line with Hitachi Energy policies and best practices, with strong oversight, effective resource use and consistent progress.
• Oversee technical and commercial aspects, including invoicing, cost management, expenses and cash flow.
• Identify risks and opportunities early, document and share lessons learned, and formally close out each project with customer acceptance.
• Apply contract and claims management principles throughout the project lifecycle.
• Work with internal and external suppliers to secure materials, services and equipment, and act as the main interface with customers, handling escalations professionally.
• Build trusted relationships with internal teams and external partners, keeping communication clear and ensuring compliance with HSE policies.
• Evaluate equipment drawings, project schedules, HSE documentation, transmittals, reports and other technical materials, and partner with execution teams and manufacturing facilities.
• Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures and guidelines.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience managing service projects; experience with transformer service projects is highly regarded.
• Strong communication skills, ownership mindset and demonstrated leadership capability.
• Proficiency in English.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of SAP (order booking, invoicing, etc.)
• Transformer service project experience
