SEO Specialist (Technical & On-Page, AI-Ready)

About the role

Welcome, a full-service digital agency based in Darlinghurst, Sydney, is looking for an SEO Specialist with deep on-page and technical SEO knowledge. You will own SEO strategy and execution across a premium portfolio of clients, working closely with in-house content, creative and technical engineering teams. The role suits someone interested in how AI, generative search and AI Overviews are reshaping search.

Key responsibilities

• Run thorough technical SEO audits and drive remediation across client sites
• Handle on-page optimisation: content architecture, meta strategy, heading hierarchy and internal linking
• Monitor site health and flag issues early
• Build keyword and content strategies based on search intent analysis
• Grow domain authority through link acquisition and digital PR
• Integrate AI tools into the workflow (briefing, keyword clustering, competitor analysis, reporting)
• Work with copywriters, designers and engineers on SEO-informed work, and with web and dev teams on site speed, Core Web Vitals and UX
• Set up and manage reporting in GA4, Google Search Console and rank tracking tools, with clear client-facing insights

Required profile

• 3+ years in a dedicated SEO role, preferably in an agency
• Proven ability to build and run keyword and content strategies that drive organic growth
• Experience identifying off-page opportunities and building effective backlink strategies
• Clear communicator who turns technical findings into plain-language client advice
• Commercial mindset, linking organic performance to traffic and revenue
• Agency experience preferred; candidates who miss some boxes but have genuine technical depth are invited to apply

Required skills

• Screaming Frog, Ahrefs, SEMrush, GA4 and Google Search Console
• Core Web Vitals, crawl budget, structured data and technical site architecture
• Ideal: awareness of and hands-on use of AI tools for SEO, and interest in generative search, AI Overviews and SGE
