Senior URD Electrical Designer

About the role

Egis Group is seeking a Senior URD Electrical Designer to join its Urban Renewable Development (URD) team in Australia. You will lead detailed electrical design and documentation for infrastructure projects such as subdivisions, public lighting, large customer connections and NBN pit and pipe relocations.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake electrical engineering design services in line with Australian and IEC standards, project scope and specifications.
• Prepare and submit works plans, council approvals and supply agreements, and coordinate with other services and architectural features.
• Attend design coordination and on‑site construction meetings, providing technical support during construction, tender review and claim certification.
• Maintain safety‑in‑design documentation and manage as‑built records, including Energex bond return.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in Energex design and infrastructure projects.
• Qualifications in Electrical Engineering with knowledge of overhead/underground distribution, substation layout, earthing, transformer bays and lightning protection.
• Strong understanding of Australian Standards, IEC standards and URD design principles.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe, Excel and the Microsoft Office suite.
• Electrical engineering design, including cable sizing, transformer rating, switchboard rating, motor starter rating, CT/VT rating and protection settings.
• Experience with engineering calculations such as maximum demand, cable sizing and protection settings.
