Senior Technician - Technology

About the role

Orica is seeking an experienced Senior Field Technician to support the deployment, operation and maintenance of AssayTrack systems across surface exploration, resource definition and surface mining operations in Australia. The role sits within Hopper Industrial Group (HIG), a subsidiary of Orica, and is based initially in the Perth (Welshpool) office and workshop, covering equipment preparation, logistics, operational planning and product readiness. The successful candidate must be willing and able to move to site-based rostered field work as operations demand.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, inspect, test and maintain AssayTrack equipment to ensure operational readiness.
• Mobilise, operate and support AssayTrack systems at surface mining sites across Australia.
• Carry out preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs to maximise equipment reliability.
• Lead field activities, coordinate with site stakeholders and ensure safe, efficient operations.
• Conduct quality assurance checks, keep accurate records and meet compliance requirements.
• Provide technical support, customer training and mentoring while promoting safety and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Current manual HR driver's licence and Australian citizenship.
• Experience in surface mining or resource definition environments with strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
• Commitment to safety, compliance and operational excellence.
• Ability to travel extensively and work on remote mine sites; eligible to obtain site inductions, medical clearances, access permits and radiation-related licences.
• Strong communication, customer engagement and Microsoft Office skills.
• Flexible to move from workshop/office work to rostered field operations.
• Desirable: leadership or supervisory experience, experience with mining technology, instrumentation, automation or field-based systems, equipment mobilisation and site logistics, and previous mining technology deployment projects.
