Senior Tax Accountant

About the role

Papathomas & Co is seeking an experienced Senior Tax Accountant to manage a diverse portfolio of SME clients. You will work with a fully cloud‑based technology stack, handling complex tax matters while providing strategic advice to business owners.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review financial statements, tax returns and SMSF accounts.
• Deliver strategic tax planning and business advice directly to SME owners.
• Navigate complex tax legislation, including Division 7A, CGT and trust structures.
• Mentor junior accountants and review their compliance work.
• Act as the primary point of contact for client queries and build lasting relationships.

Required profile

• Current CA or CPA registration (essential).
• 7–10 years of experience in an Australian public practice environment.
• Proven track record handling small‑to‑medium business clients.
• Deep understanding of Australian tax compliance, legislation and tax structures.
