Senior System Administrator (Enterprise Platform Transformation)

About the role

The Australian National University is seeking a Senior System Administrator to lead the enterprise platform transformation. This fixed‑term role will modernise and consolidate the university’s distributed Windows infrastructure, improving security, resilience and operational consistency.

Key responsibilities

• Provide senior technical leadership for the upgrade, migration and management of enterprise Windows platforms and services.
• Assess existing infrastructure, develop migration strategies and implement sustainable enterprise solutions aligned with university standards.
• Lead the transition of locally managed systems into centrally supported environments.
• Collaborate with technical teams, business stakeholders, colleges and service divisions to deliver technology outcomes.
• Resolve complex technical issues, produce high‑quality documentation and contribute to service‑improvement and standardisation initiatives.

Required profile

• Experienced systems administrator with a strong track record of solving complex technical challenges.
• Ability to work directly with stakeholders and deliver organisational change through technology.
• Comfortable operating under the direction of a Systems Lead and partnering with cross‑functional squads.
• Commitment to delivering high‑impact, enterprise‑grade solutions in a university environment.
