Senior Subcontracts Specialist

About the role

A long-term aircraft sustainment program is introducing new contractual and reporting requirements across its supplier network. This role leads the drafting of subcontract changes, determines which obligations need to be flowed down and negotiates those changes with the established supplier network. It is based in Brisbane with hybrid working available across Fortitude Valley, Springfield or the Brisbane Airport precinct, and involves about 10% travel.

Key responsibilities

• Own a portfolio of high-value supplier agreements supporting a major aircraft sustainment program.
• Review incoming requirements, incorporate them into existing subcontract arrangements and draft and amend contract clauses.
• Negotiate contract changes with suppliers, balancing commercial outcomes, compliance obligations and supplier relationships.
• Manage contractual risk, compliance obligations and supplier commitments with stakeholders.
• Maintain productive supplier relationships and resolve issues before they affect delivery.
• Manage contract governance, reporting and documentation requirements.
• Contribute to Australian Industry Capability (AIC) activities as program requirements evolve.

Required profile

• Australian citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain an NV1 security clearance (mandatory).
• Career built in contracts, subcontracts or commercial management, with hands-on responsibility for drafting, negotiating and managing agreements.
• Background in Defence, aerospace, government contracting or another regulated environment.
• Comfortable interpreting new requirements and negotiating outcomes that protect commercial interests.
• Annual international travel is a requirement.

Required skills

• Drafting and negotiating contracts, subcontracts, variations and amendments.
• Understanding of contractual flow-down obligations across supplier networks.
• Managing supplier relationships throughout the contract lifecycle.
• Experience with Defence contracting frameworks, DEFCON clauses or ASDEFCON documentation is highly regarded.
