Senior Structural Engineer

About the role

Northrop is hiring a Senior Structural Engineer to join its Newcastle office. You will lead project teams and own the technical delivery of structural projects across a range of sectors, working with a team of engineers, designers, drafters, graduates and undergraduates. The role is client-facing, with autonomy to lead projects from concept to construction, supported by a close-knit management team.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver a wide range of structural projects, including commercial buildings, residential developments, fit-outs, aged care and educational facilities
• Work with a diverse client base, attend meetings and inspections, and act as first point of contact for design coordination and reviews
• Handle project costings, monitor performance and budget, and ensure key dates are met
• Assist junior team members in planning their weekly project time and mentor emerging engineers
• Contribute to technical development across the Structural section and develop business development skills, including preparing proposals

Required profile

• 6-10 years of experience as a Structural Engineering Consultant in the Australian market
• Tertiary qualification in Engineering, ideally CPEng certified
• Experience delivering projects across residential, health, education, commercial and industrial sectors
• Accountability, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and a strong team ethic
• Familiarity with internal financial management of projects is highly valued

Required skills

• Knowledge of ETABS, RC Building, RAM Concept, RAPT, Inducta packages and SpaceGass is highly valued
