Senior Strategic Engagement Officer

About the role

The Department of Education's Academy Services Division is recruiting a Senior Strategic Engagement Officer to lead the Academy's engagement strategy, positioning and marketing. The role connects the Academy with its priority audiences through audience-focused practice, high-quality targeted content and effective stewardship of the Academy's brand. It is a full-time fixed-term position starting 1 January 2027 and running until 31 December 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end campaign strategy and delivery for priority campaigns
• Develop and deliver campaigns, including audience fit, narrative design, channel approach, success measures, performance reporting and optimisation
• Influence and build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Provide editorial direction and quality assurance across campaign content, championing audience needs, accessibility and brand consistency
• Act as the brand custodian, guiding the consistent application of the Academy's brand
• Support colleagues on the team in campaign delivery and monitor performance, refining campaigns with data and insights

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience delivering and managing end-to-end strategic engagement, marketing and content initiatives
• Strong project management, organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities and adapt to emerging needs
• Ability to interpret data and turn insights into action
• Highly developed communication and collaboration skills, able to build trusted relationships and influence stakeholders
• Ability to work independently with sound judgement in a collaborative, service-oriented environment
• A tertiary qualification in marketing or similar is desirable
