Senior Software Engineer, Platforms & Cloud

About the role

Dentsu's data and technology team builds and maintains solutions supporting marketing, media buying, creative and customer experience teams. As Senior Software Engineer, you will join the Cloud and Platforms Engineering team on a new programme to build a portfolio of AI-driven marketing products. The role is hands-on, with seniority in scope and judgement rather than distance from the code, and there is no team in place from day one. It is a permanent, full-time position on a hybrid model in Melbourne or Sydney.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of cloud-native applications, products and services from concept through to production.
• Define engineering standards, architecture patterns and technical approaches that support scalability, reliability and performance.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across projects, helping teams solve complex engineering challenges.
• Drive platform reliability, observability, security and cloud optimisation initiatives across the engineering environment.
• Partner with stakeholders across engineering, data science and the wider business to turn requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Own reliability, security posture and cloud cost across the estate, and mentor engineers and contribute to hiring as the team grows.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience leading the delivery of significant software, platform or cloud engineering initiatives.
• Experience mentoring engineers, influencing technical direction and driving engineering best practices.
• Ability to balance hands-on software development with ownership of technical outcomes and platform strategy.
• Proven track record delivering scalable, production-grade products that solve real business problems.

Required skills

• Strong architecture and systems design capability.
• Deep expertise in at least one major cloud platform.
