Senior Software Engineer - Platform

About the role

A high-growth payments business in Melbourne is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to help build out its platform as it scales. The business is founder-led, has strong market traction and is investing in engineering as the product grows. The role sits close to the core of what the business does: systems that move money and manage identity, built by a small team that uses AI tools as part of its everyday work. You will have real ownership and work directly with the founders.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and ship features end to end, from backend through to interface
• Work across React and Node.js on systems handling money movement and identity
• Use AI tooling as part of everyday engineering, from planning through to code
• Work closely with the founders on product direction and technical decisions
• Write clean, well tested code you would be comfortable maintaining yourself

Required profile

• Strong backend engineering in TypeScript and Node.js, with genuine ownership over what you've built
• Experience in a regulated environment, comfortable with the standards around moving money and managing identity
• React experience; Google Cloud is a plus but not essential
• Comfortable working closely with founders in a small, early-stage team
• Genuinely curious about using AI tools to build better and faster software
