Senior Software Engineer - Developer Experience (Golang, Python)

About the role

Canva is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to shape the developer experience across its platform. Based in Sydney with a hybrid work model, you will help design and deliver tools that make engineering teams more productive.

Key responsibilities

• Design, document, and implement complex infrastructure projects spanning multiple systems.
• Drive projects from concept through stakeholder buy‑in, implementation, testing, rollout, and adoption.
• Create developer‑facing tools, self‑service platforms and CLIs to reduce manual work.
• Develop monitoring, alerting, and diagnostic tools for proactive issue detection.
• Partner with engineering teams to gather requirements and translate them into scalable solutions.
• Share knowledge via documentation, tech talks, and mentorship of junior engineers.
• Participate in on‑call rotation for critical platform services.

Required profile

• Strong background in Platform Engineering with experience supporting large engineering orgs (1000+ engineers).
• Proven track record of building and operating systems at scale.
• Experience working in a hybrid environment and collaborating across teams.
