About the role
The Faculty of Science and Engineering at Macquarie University seeks a Senior Scientific Officer to provide technical and operational support for research and teaching laboratories within Applied BioSciences and the School of Natural Sciences.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate day‑to‑day technical operations of shared research laboratories, including equipment scheduling and user training.
- Develop, implement and maintain standard operating procedures and safety protocols to ensure compliance with PC2, OGTR and other regulations.
- Provide technical support for undergraduate teaching labs and troubleshoot equipment issues.
Required profile
- Degree in Biology or a closely related discipline.
- Experience working in PC2 facilities and strong knowledge of work health and safety legislation.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Required skills
- Operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- PC2 facility management and compliance.
- Development of SOPs and safety protocols.
