Senior Project Manager – EL1 (6‑month contract)

About the role

This 6‑month EL1 contract supports a nationally significant, multi‑stream social policy initiative. Based in Tuggeranong, Canberra, the Senior Project Manager will work on‑site with senior leaders to improve alignment, visibility, governance and execution across complex workstreams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end coordination of multiple complex workstreams.
• Develop and maintain integrated project plans, schedules and reporting frameworks.
• Produce executive‑ready reports, briefings, strategy documents and presentations.
• Maintain governance artefacts, dashboards and program tracking tools.
• Identify, analyse and escalate risks, issues and interdependencies to senior leadership.
• Apply business analysis techniques to translate delivery activity into outcome‑focused insights.
• Establish structured delivery routines with senior stakeholders and track milestones.
• Strengthen agile delivery practices and improve planning discipline.
• Support uplift of project‑management maturity and continuous improvement.
• Coach and mentor APS staff, and contribute to capability‑building initiatives.
• Lead handover and knowledge‑transfer activities at contract completion.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering complex, multi‑stream projects in government, social policy, human services or consulting.
• Strong track record of producing accurate, timely executive reporting.
• Experience in high‑governance environments with shifting priorities.
• Solid understanding of Commonwealth program delivery frameworks and reporting obligations.
• Ability to map interdependencies and link workstreams to broader outcomes.
• Demonstrated capability in coaching, mentoring and building delivery capability.
