Senior Project Engineer - Offshore Projects

About the role

ICON Engineering, an Australian oil and gas service provider, is looking for an oil and gas professional with a strong background in managing and delivering offshore projects, including multi-discipline engineering services. The role focuses on procurement and vendor management of fabricated items and high-specification equipment, and offshore mobilisation. It reports to the Project Manager/Package Lead and covers a variety of small to medium offshore projects.

Key responsibilities

• Work closely with clients and vendors to understand their needs and drive cost-effective, practical solutions.
• Procure, expedite and deliver fabricated items and equipment, and manage associated offshore mobilisation activities.
• Manage vendor performance for the fabrication and supply of high-specification equipment, including proactive expediting to protect the schedule.
• Develop, review and manage Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), including witness and hold points, and coordinate inspections with vendors, clients and third-party inspection bodies.
• Manage quality surveillance and non-conformance during fabrication, including MDR/data book review and close-out.
• Manage offshore mobilisation, including pre-mobilisation inspections, equipment and personnel dispatch, and liaison with the client's logistics team.
• Lead site implementation of engineered solutions, coordinate installation and provide technical support during offshore execution.
• Manage medium-sized projects up to $5m, achieving schedule, cost and quality KPIs.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in engineering (structural or mechanical preferred).
• At least 10+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry.
• Experience managing detailed engineered design phases and offshore industry design codes, standards and specifications.
• Vendor and subcontractor management, including RFQs/POs, tender evaluation and performance management.
• Offshore site experience supervising personnel is highly regarded; client-facing roles are highly desirable.
• Experience in cost estimating, tender and proposal preparation, and project monitoring and auditing.
