Senior Project Controller, Rail & Metro

About the role

SMEC is seeking a Senior Project Controller to join its rail team in North Sydney. You will play a pivotal role in delivering rail transport projects by overseeing scope, cost, schedule, and contract administration while supporting innovative and sustainable infrastructure solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure planning, reporting, project controlling, scheduling and resource planning meet technical standards and client requirements.
• Prepare accurate reports and project metrics for senior management.
• Apply risk management and contingency planning throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage project deliverables and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Collaborate with contributors and stakeholders to maintain quality, timeliness and coordination.
• Contribute to the commercial success of projects and the broader team.

Required profile

• 5+ years of project controls experience on transport infrastructure projects.
• 2+ years hands‑on experience developing and implementing Power BI reporting solutions.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• High‑level consulting and client management capabilities.
• Strong administration, organisational skills and high attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a culturally diverse environment.
