Senior Product Manager

About the role

CAR Group's NEXT team builds new, high-growth businesses and features for its online vehicle marketplaces, and is looking for a Senior Product Manager in Melbourne. You will lead the discovery of the group's next big bets, explore opportunities, run experiments with real users and build products that create value for buyers, sellers and the business. The team works at a rapid pace with a start-up mindset, and offers hybrid working.

Key responsibilities

• Lead discovery of new business opportunities by spotting unsolved, high-potential problems across the marketplaces.
• Design and run experiments, tests and pilots with real users to validate ideas quickly.
• Interpret user and market signals to turn data into clear, actionable insights.
• Use AI to find and test new business models faster, from rapid prototyping to AI-native product experiences.
• Improve the buyer experience while creating real value for sellers and dealers.
• Build partnerships with third parties, vendors and partners to execute at pace.
• Define a product vision and strategy and pitch it to senior stakeholders to secure backing and funding.

Required profile

• Built products from scratch, ideally taking at least one product or business from zero to launch in a startup, incubator or internal zero-to-one team.
• Has shipped AI/ML-powered products or used AI to speed up discovery, prototyping and decision-making.
• Comfortable with ambiguity, rapid change and fast pace, and able to influence cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.
• Full-time Australian working rights and a National Police Record check; successful candidates must complete a police check.

Required skills

• Hands-on product leadership with a deep product toolkit and a bias for action.
• Clear, persuasive communication.
• Automotive, marketplace or two-sided platform experience is a bonus.
