Senior Primary Design Engineer – Adelaide

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Primary Design Engineer to lead technical design packages from concept through construction for a transmission and distribution business in Adelaide. The role involves mentoring junior engineers and shaping design standards across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and deliver primary design packages, including equipment selection, layout design and technical specifications.
• Prepare and review engineering drawings, calculations and documentation in line with relevant standards and codes.
• Oversee technical quality of outputs from internal teams and external consultants.
• Collaborate with clients, stakeholders and project teams to understand requirements and constraints.
• Conduct site assessments and inspections to validate design solutions.
• Support tendering and estimating by developing scopes, cost estimates and technical input.
• Coordinate with secondary systems, civil, structural and other disciplines to deliver integrated designs.

Required profile

• Extensive primary electrical design experience in utilities, infrastructure or industrial sectors.
• Proven track record leading design packages on medium to large‑scale projects.
• Strong knowledge of industry standards, codes and regulatory frameworks.
• Ability to manage competing priorities across several projects.
• Experience working directly with clients and external stakeholders.
