Senior Power Systems Engineer

About the role

Fyfe, a multi-disciplinary consultancy, is expanding its Power & Connection capability and is seeking a Senior Power Systems Engineer to lead grid connection studies for major data centre, renewable energy and storage projects across Australia. The role can be based in Brisbane or Melbourne.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage major R0, R1 and R2 grid connection projects across data centres, renewable generation, battery energy storage and hybrid technologies.
• Undertake power systems modelling and analysis for utility-scale networks, including steady-state and dynamic studies.
• Provide technical leadership on generator and load connection studies from advisory and feasibility through to execution.
• Manage project scope, schedule, budget, quality and technical risk.
• Work with clients, AEMO, transmission and distribution network service providers, contractors and stakeholders.
• Contribute to technical standards, methodologies and best practice, and mentor engineers.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering or a related discipline.
• At least 10 years' experience in power systems engineering and grid connection projects, with strong knowledge of R0, R1 and R2 studies.
• Thorough understanding of Australia's generator and load connection processes, including Chapters 5 and 5A of the National Electricity Rules and AEMO obligations.
• Experience delivering complex projects to agreed quality, budget and schedule.
• Australian citizenship, permanent residency or full Australian working rights; agency applications not accepted.

Required skills

• Proficiency in PSS&E, PSCAD and DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
• Knowledge of TNSP, DNSP and AEMO requirements.
• Chartered Professional Engineer status and RPEQ or RPEV registration desirable.
