Senior Operator - Wastewater Treatment

About the role

Coliban Water is looking for a Senior Operator to help ensure the safe, efficient and compliant operation of wastewater treatment facilities, including Water Reclamation Plants and the Bendigo Recycled Water Factory. The role oversees daily operations, maintenance activities, plant performance and regulatory compliance. It sits within the Asset & Operations business unit, reports to the WRP O&M Team Leader and is based in Bendigo with travel to sites across the Coliban Water region.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain wastewater treatment systems and recycled water facilities
• Inspect and assess lagoon conditions and plant performance
• Collect operational data, samples and water quality information
• Coordinate maintenance activities and repairs
• Manage sludge removal and disposal activities
• Monitor equipment and manage chemical ordering
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and safety standards
• Identify opportunities to improve plant performance and efficiency

Required profile

• Certificate III in Water Industry (or equivalent experience)
• At least 5 years' relevant experience
• Experience operating and maintaining water and/or wastewater treatment plants
• Desirable: knowledge of the Victorian water industry
• Desirable: experience with mechanical equipment, welding, concreting, corrosion protection, environmental management or weed spraying

• Strong problem-solving, communication and record-keeping skills
