Senior Open Pit Mine Surveyor

About the role

Northern Star Resources is seeking a Senior Open Pit Mine Surveyor for its Technical Services team at the KCGM Super Pit operation in Western Australia. Reporting to the Alternate Open Pit Manager, you will lead and mentor the Survey team and work closely with Mining, Geotechnical, Drill & Blast and Mine Planning stakeholders. The roster is 5/2, 4/3 (9 hour) days only, residential.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate all operational survey activities across the open pit operation.
• Provide technical expertise and governance on surveying standards, practices and statutory compliance.
• Manage survey control networks and validate survey accuracy across the site.
• Oversee pit, stockpile, waste dump and volumetric surveys, and deliver accurate survey pickups and mark-ups.
• Support drill and blast, grade control and construction projects, and monitor pit wall movement for geotechnical programs.
• Ensure survey data is processed and delivered on time, and develop and maintain survey procedures and QA standards.
• Mentor Mine Surveyors, Graduate Surveyors and technicians, and drive continuous improvement through drone and remote surveying solutions.

Required profile

• Minimum 5+ years in mining survey, including significant open pit experience.
• Previous experience as a Senior Surveyor, Lead Surveyor or supervisor.
• Degree or Diploma in Surveying, Spatial Sciences, Mine Surveying or a related discipline.
• Current unencumbered Western Australian C class driver's licence.

Required skills

• Advanced use of GNSS/GPS, Total Stations, LiDAR and drones.
• Software such as Vulcan, Deswik, Leica Infinity, Trimble Business Centre and AutoCAD.
• Leadership, mentoring and stakeholder management.
