Senior .NET Engineer - Greenfield Payments Platform

About the role

An established Australian payments business, which issues cards and runs payment programs for large organisations and government, is building a new global, cloud-first platform to replace its existing systems. Australia is next to go live, starting with a brand-new product. This is the first hire in a new Melbourne engineering team, working on a greenfield, cloud-first, AI-native platform.

Key responsibilities

• Build the new platform for the Australian market in C# / .NET on Azure.
• Turn architecture requirements into strong, well-thought-through designs and lead the technical build.
• Work closely with the global platform team based in the UK.
• Use AI-led engineering every day: the team runs its development process with AI agents (BMAD), and you will help other engineers adopt the same practices.
• Help shape how the Melbourne team works as it grows.

Required profile

• Strong senior backend experience in C# / .NET.
• Commercial cloud experience; Azure preferred, AWS is fine.
• Hands-on experience with an AI-led development framework (BMAD, OpenSpec or similar), or a clear track record of investing serious time in it.
• Comfortable working independently and with a team in another time zone, including some evening calls, with flexibility around your hours.
• Willingness to pick up some front-end work when needed.
• Payments or fintech experience is a bonus, not required.
