Senior Mine Controller (Underground) - FIFO

About the role

Gold Fields is seeking a Senior Mine Controller to oversee real-time coordination, monitoring and optimisation of underground mining activities at the Granny Smith gold mine, ensuring safe and productive operations. Working from the underground control room on an 8/6 days, 7/7 nights rotating roster, the role leads a team of underground Mine Controllers while staying actively involved in Mine Control duties. It reports to the Supervisor Mine Control.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and coordinate underground mining activities, equipment and personnel in real time using Fleet Management Systems to ensure safety, efficiency and compliance with production plans
• Provide daily operational leadership, training, mentoring and performance coaching to Mine Controllers
• Oversee operational support and safety systems, track underground personnel and act as a key contact during emergencies
• Work with the Mine Control Supervisor to identify bottlenecks, implement corrective actions and improve team competency and processes

Required profile

• Significant underground mining experience in a mine control or dispatch environment
• Proven leadership experience
• Valid manual C Class driver's licence

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Fleet Management Systems such as Micromine Pitram, ABB Ability or similar
• Strong knowledge of underground mining operations, safety standards and production life-cycles
• Situational awareness and ability to solve problems under pressure
• Excellent communication skills across technical, operational and supervisory staff
